The Ohio State Buckeyes football program, established in 1890, competes in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision as a member of the Big Ten Conference and has compiled an all-time record of 990–337–53. The Buckeyes play at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, an iconic 104,780-capacity venue that has served as their home since 1922 and was built entirely on fan donations. Ohio State claims nine national championships recognized from major selectors and has won 41 total conference titles (2 Ohio Athletic Conference and 39 Big Ten).

The program is renowned for storied traditions including Script Ohio and the Dotting of the I performed by the marching band, Buckeye Leaves on player helmets (introduced 1968), the Gold Pants tradition honoring Michigan victories (since 1934), and the pre-game Skull Session—where the Ohio State Marching Band holds its final rehearsal in St. John Arena two hours before kickoff, a tradition dating to 1957 that draws over 10,000 fans, with the head coach and players often speaking to the crowd before the band marches to the stadium.
